Description

The goal of the Reliability Centered Maintenance Group is to achieve higher equipment availability and lower maintenance costs through predictive maintenance technologies. This goal is realized by regularly scheduled monitoring of equipment with predictive technologies and coordinating the necessary maintenance through teamwork with other maintenance and operations personnel, including but not limited to supervision, planning, engineering, and field personnel.

This position requires travel to other facilities and interaction with vendors, contractors and company personnel; any and all business must be conducted in a professional manner as a representative of Freeport-McMoRan. This position requires a responsible, self-motivated person who is able to work efficiently with minimal supervision. This position requires working in confined spaces and tight corridors, as well as, working closely around moving, rotating, electrically energized, and elevated equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Monitor equipment ranging from the SX/EW, Smelter, Water System, Crushing/Conveying, Concentrator, Mine (Shovels, Drills, Haulage), Refining, Rod Plant, and outlying areas

  • Perform ultrasound, phased array ultrasound, eddy current, dye penetrant, magnetic particle data collection utilizing current technology (Olympus, Parker and other approved equipment)

  • Utilization of the current software to load, dump, and analyze ultrasonic route data, as well as build and update the associated data sets and databases (alarms, trends, etc.)

  • Report building/giving presentations utilizing various software programs, daily planning, including but not limited to Maintenance Plans and Maintenance orders utilizing the current CMMS

  • Learn various RCM/PdM technologies, primarily ultrasonic analysis and the associated software with future development into additional technologies

  • Support the RCM Program and its continual development; educate other personnel in any area of the RCM Program

  • Administer the collection and analysis of real-time data using various predictive technologies, develop advanced diagnostic tools, make recommendations to Maintenance, complete and submit work orders as necessary

  • Communicate effectively to provide, receive, and implement constructive feedback to support the mentoring program

  • Data collection, analysis and reporting utilizing, but not limited to, the following technologies:

  • Phased Array Ultrasound

  • Eddy Current

  • Conventional Ultrasound

  • UT TOFD Method

  • Array Eddy Current

  • Magnetic Particle

  • Dye Penetrant

  • Other NDT Technologies

  • Actively participate with Maintenance and Planning groups

  • Perform additional duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on mechanical maintenance repair/rebuild experience with industrial equipment (pumps, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, etc.) that includes:

  • A working knowledge and understanding of moving and rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes and conveyors, from an operations and maintenance perspective, electrically and mechanically

  • A working knowledge and understanding of basic prints and ability to read them

  • Journeyman level ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals and other reference materials

  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

  • Ability to work in a team with high regard for safety and environmental concerns and with a strong commitment to policies

  • Effective written, verbal, and communication skills to satisfy straining, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company

  • Ability to work in very small compartments, elevated work areas, and hot equipment safely

  • Demonstrated computer skills in Windows environment with experience in MS Work, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Possess Level I Ultrasound certification or obtain within one (1) year of hire date

  • Valid state driver's license (or able to obtain one)

  • Satisfactory performance record (internal applicant)

Preferred

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of hands-on mechanical maintenance repair/rebuild experience with industrial equipment (pumps, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, etc.) that includes:

  • A working knowledge and understanding of moving and rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes and conveyors, from an operations and maintenance perspective, electrically and mechanically

  • A working knowledge and understanding of basic prints and ability to read them

  • Journeyman level ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals and other reference materials

  • Prior Ultrasonic Testing (UT) experience

  • Experience with Ultrasonic data collection utilizing current technology (Olympus)

  • Certification in Phased Array, Conventional UT, or other NDT technologies

  • Experience with NDT technologies (Magnetic-Particle, Dye Penetrant, etc.)

  • Certification and or experience with Eddy Current or Eddy Current Array

  • Experience with RCFA

The estimated pay range for this role is currently * $35.00 - $47.50/hour.* This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
