Job Summary

Provide guidance on environmental and regulatory issues for the PSE&G Resource Recovery process and waste-related compliance issues and programs. Implement practices and procedures for hazardous materials, waste management programs and environmental field operations. Provide expertise, training and information exchange to meet the client community needs and to assure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Interpret regulations and evaluate waste / environmental and analytical data. Apply specific services, e.g., manifest preparation assistance, sampling and characterization, scheduling waste and material recovery pickups, assisting with waste profiles, contracts and vendor performance, waste management / environmental metrics and scorecard reporting, preparing and updating practices and procedures and annual reporting. Investigate and recommend innovative solutions to specific waste management problems utilizing best practices, networking and industry standards and incorporate appropriate improvements. Integrate regulatory and business requirements into cost-effective solutions. Utilize excellent written and oral communication, project management, customer focus, planning / organizing and teamwork skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Interpret regulations and evaluate waste / environmental and analytical data.

  • Apply specific services e.g. manifest preparation assistance, sampling and characterization, scheduling waste and material recovery pickups, assisting with waste profiles, contracts & vendor performance, waste management / environmental metrics and scorecard reporting, preparing and updating practices and procedures and annual reporting.

  • Investigate and recommend innovative solutions to specific waste management problems utilizing best practices, networking and industry standards and incorporate appropriate improvements.

  • Perform waste storage inspections. Must be able to handle some physical aspects of job (moving drums with drum cart, step up two-three ladder steps to complete visual inspections of waste/recycling containers).

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science or minimum of six years of professional experience

• Minimum 5 years of field experience in waste operations and complex projects and environmental regulatory experience as it pertains to waste management / disposal

• Possess a strong understanding of local, state and federal regulations governing waste management / disposal, recycling and material recovery operations

• Experience with regulatory agencies and knowledge of federal, state (New Jersey) and local environmental regulations and practices

• Technical / Regulatory working knowledge of waste management and PCBs (RCRA / TSCA), hazardous materials, (DOT / OSHA) and materials recovery

• Strong business acumen and understanding of environmental field operations, costs and logistics

• As the job requires driving to Company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history

Desired Skills:

• Master’s / Advanced Degree

• CHMM, HAZWOPER Certification

• Project and contract management experience

• Experience in scheduling and supervising vendors in support of environmental projects
