MetroHealth Surgical Support Specialist-Operating Room in CLEVELAND, Ohio

Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER

Biweekly Hours: 80.00

Shift: 7-3:30p-some rotating

Summary:

Provides support services in the Perioperative Suite under the direction and guidance of the Supervisor, Surgical Support. Distributes supplies, instrument trays, equipment, and case carts for surgical cases as required. Participates in operating room turnover, room set-up, lifting and positioning patients, and retrieving urgent items as required for surgical cases. Assists in delivering blood products and lab specimens. Operates instrument washer and all sterilization equipment in reprocessing instrumentation required for same day use. Performs daily sterilizer testing and maintains sterilizer logs and supplies. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required: High school diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Knowledge of sterile technique. Knowledge of medical terminology and OR equipment. BLS certification from AHA or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Ability to work in a team environment while demonstrating good judgment, initiative, and effective critical thinking skills. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred: Experience as an Operating Room Technician 2 years of work experience in a procedural area.

Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to push/pull 350 pounds. Ability to lift 35 pounds. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires some exposure to chemicals.
