Posted October 05, 2022 The English Department at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for the Shirley Wormser Professorship in Journalism and Media Writing to begin in fall 2023. The department seeks a distinguished teacher-scholar, with a national reputation, for an appointment at the level of associate or full professor. Rank will be commensurate with experience. A master's or doctoral degree is required, along with a substantial record of publication in appropriate media. The department is especially interested in writers with experience in audio and visual journalism. Areas of expertise may include racial justice, environmental writing, science writing, travel writing, disability studies, investigative journalism, journalistic ethics, sports journalism, political and economic journalism, and global and international journalism. A successful candidate will have experience generating transformative initiatives that focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion; a commitment to innovative pedagogies; and an ability to lead students through a broad range of curricular offerings. Candidates should have an interest in developing and enhancing community partnerships in the Cleveland area. Minimum Qualifications:MA or PhD in English, Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, or a related field. Responsibilities & Duties:Teaching load is two courses a semester. Other responsibilities include ongoing research, scholarship, and publication; and service at the departmental, college, and university levels.
