The G101 the Transplant Specialty Care Unit is a solid organ transplant unit that supports and assists transplant patients and their families throughout the transplant process. The unit specializes in kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestine transplant surgeries. G101 is a step-down unit with 34 beds on it - 10 private rooms and 12 semi-private rooms. G101 has a positive, team-oriented and supportive culture with daily 7am huddles for both the night shift and day shift to start/end their shift with an optimistic mindset. We adhere to a strict patient-to-staff ration, never exceeding 6 patients per caregiver, assuring personalized attention and safety. Caregivers on this unit learn strong surgical care critical thinking skills, and constant reliability.

A caregiver in this position works a 6-week day/night shift rotation working either 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. A caregiver may also choose to work straight nights, 7:00pm - 7:00am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care.

  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.

  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients' conditions.

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

  • Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.

  • Educate patients and their families.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

  • One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

Certifications:

  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).

  • Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire.

  • If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum one year current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting required for acute care settings.

  • Minimum one year current acute care RN experience and/or skilled nursing facility (SNF) experience required for SNF care settings.

  • Minimum one year current acute care RN experience and/or rehab experience required for rehab care settings.

  • Minimum one year current acute care RN experience and/or Emergency Department (ED) experience required for ED settings.

  • Will consider licensed military RN experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
