Apply for Job Job ID 12760 Location Case Main Campus Full/Part Time Full-Time Regular/Temporary Regular Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job Job Description POSITION OBJECTIVE Working with a high degree of independence and under general direction, the Electrochemical Materials Fabrication Center (EMF) Operations Manager will manage the administrative, business and operational activities of the center. This will include leading the budgeting and forecasting processes, performing financial management, analysis, and reporting; and will manage the associated major projects, including major awards, and industry-sponsored projects. The operations manager acts as the point of contact for these major projects and activities. The operations manager will work closely with the Great Lakes Energy Institute Executive Director and the EMF Principal Investigator as well as internal and external investigators on these awards, including those in academia, industry, national laboratories and at government installations. Case Western Reserve University's Great Lakes Energy Institute was created in 2008 to empower faculty, students, and partners to catalyze breakthroughs in energy sustainability that address the most pressing problems facing our world. Since the institute's inception, Case Western Reserve University has quintupled its level of energy-related research and has established credibility in attracting energy awards across funding agencies and with industry. Built on historical strengths in fundamentals ranging across the sciences, engineering, policy and business, university's energy research unites disciplines. Greak Lakes Energy Institute's activities focuses on catalyzing growth in energy related research, technology commercialization, education, and outreach activities among the faculty and serves as the face for energy leadership at the university. The Electrochemical Materials Fabrication Lab was established in 2011, and has since performed groundbreaking work in electrochemical separations, electrowinning and electroplating of rare earth elements, and improvements in atomic layer electrochemical deposition. In 2022, the Electronics Design Center was brought under the leadership of the principal investigator. These additional administrative requirements, along with intended growth has led to the formation of the Electrochemical Materials Fabrication Center. The center operations manager will work closely with the center principal investigator, nstitute Executive Director, GLEI advisory board, GLEI staff and CWRU leadership to serve the mission and long-term sustainability of the Institute and EMF. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Manage sponsored research projects, as assigned. During projects periods of performance, support investigators on major projects to deliver project outcomes on time, on budget and with the results expected by the grant-funding agency. Track and manage schedules proactively. Be familiar with the research goals and progress on those goals. Help to facilitate continuity of funding by focusing investigators on technical delivery and by providing exemplary financial and administrative management of the projects, in concert with the department research administrators. Manage schedule of post-award reporting to ensure key dates are met and reporting is as expected by the funding agency. Develop, implement, and conduct project management processes and procedures including scheduling, financial planning, reporting, forecasting, billing, due diligence, and modeling, with linkage to the Dean's office research administration team. Facilitate the input and output required of the University's Research and Technology Management teams in support of financial reporting needs for the major grants.
