Summary:

At our Cleveland Service Center site, located in Cleveland, Ohio, we re-manufacture alternators for EVO, HDL and FDL locomotives. The Cleveland Center supplies alternators to locomotive manufacturing sites and repairs points across the globe. The site focuses on safe, efficient processes, while continuously driving out costs. The Project manager is responsible for helping to make sure the processes are safe, effective and efficient for the organization including keeping the prophecy system up to date, planning, shipping, coordinating the MODS program, 5S and lean projects. The Project Manager will assist and work with other Wabtec facilities when needed. This role will report directly to the Site Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates logistics for all outbound Alternator and Traction motor deliveries.

  • The Proficy Champion role functions as the first line of contact and support with hourly operators with Proficy-related activities on the shop floor for both shifts.

  • Create quality questions in the Proficy system.

  • Identifies bill of material errors in Proficy.

  • Provide support of Proficy system to other Wabtec facilities.

  • Identifies and proposes improvements to drive efficiency, quality, and or safety in the operation.

  • Train and assist new shop floor team members.

  • This role establishes & monitors the 5S program. Encourages employee’s participation, holds quarterly raffles, and makes sure the shop is continuing 5S daily.

  • Manages Lean initiatives to drive operation improvements, including plant layouts, SOP’s, new processes, training ect.

  • Ownership of the upkeep and maintaining of the rotary bulletin boards on the plant floor.

  • Support material handling activities.

  • Assist with Safety and Quality audits.

  • Coordinates with the Texas facility to ensure the schedule of the 213 mods program. Communicates weekly on status of program. Coordinates with production and materials to ensure program needs are needs.

  • Back up support for indirect purchasing and materials.

  • Back up support for cycle counting and inventory verifications. Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Coordinates with site MTA’s to ensure delivery dates are confirmed. Provides communications as requested.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.

  • Three years minimum industry experience in manufacturing or transportation and/or training. Lean manufacturing experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work unsupervised.

  • Strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise and create solutions.

  • Ability to respond positively to feedback and implement change in 5S/Lean process and procedures as needed.

  • Familiarity with Excel, Word, Power point, Oracle, Prophecy, AutoCad.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and concepts.

Physical Demands:

  • Employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

  • Employee is regularly required to see and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.

  • Employee is regularly required to wear steel toe shoes, safety glasses.

  • Position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.

  • Requires daily face-to-face interaction with employees on production line.

Work Environment:

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
