Case Western Reserve University Open Rank Faculty Positions (tenure-track) - Department of Computer and Data Sci in Cleveland, Ohio

Posted October 25, 2022 The Department of Computer and Data Sciences in the Case School of Engineering at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions. While all ranks will be considered, preference will be given to candidates at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This search prioritizes Assistant and Associate Professor candidates in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Privacy and Security, and related areas. However, we will consider exceptional candidates at all ranks commensurate with experience, and in all areas of Computer and Data Sciences. In addition to foundational research, candidates with collaborative research programs in applied areas of Computer and Data Sciences are encouraged to apply. The Department of Computer and Data Sciences was formed in 2019 out of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, with the vision that computing and data sciences will play a central role in interdisciplinary research and education throughout the university. CWRU has a well-established culture and a nurturing environment for transdisciplinary research, and the department faculty have a broad range of collaborative research on applications with a societal impact, including human health, energy, materials, and social sciences. Current departmental strengths include Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, Networks and Distributed Systems, High Performance Computing, Cyber-Security and Privacy, and Software Engineering, and successful candidates will be expected to be synergistic with these strengths. The Department has strong ties with Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, NASA Glenn Center and many large companies in the Cleveland area. Case Western Reserve University, Case School of Engineering, and the Department of Computer and Data Sciences are committed to increasing representation of all communities in computing. Candidates must have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. Candidates seeking positions at the Assistant Professor level should demonstrate potential for excellence in innovative research. Candidates seeking positions at the Associate Professor level should have established a significant research reputation nationally and possess a record of extramural funding. Candidates seeking positions at the level of full Professor should be recognized internationally for research excellence, leadership and scholarship in their discipline. All successful candidates are expected to develop a vibrant, high-quality externally sponsored research program, supervise graduate students, and interact and collaborate with faculty across the department and campus. Applicants should have a strong commitment to high quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants must submit (i) a cover letter, (ii) current curriculum vitae, (iii) statement of research interests, (iv) statement of teaching interests, (iv) statement on diversity and inclusion, and (v) contact information for at least three references for a junior position and six references for a senior position. The statement on diversity and inclusion should explain how the candidates value diversity, equity, and inclusion within their research and discipline(s) and how their own scholarly work might contribute to structural justice inside and outside institutions of higher learning.
