Ohio Means Jobs Cleveland Cuyahoga County is sourcing for a Community Engagement Specialist. Purpose The Community Engagement Coordinator supports families across Cuyahoga County by fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment in our playroom and extending services through community outreach and follow-up. This role involves direct interaction with children and families, managing playroom activities, and maintaining meaningful connections with families through follow-up communication and outreach initiatives. Essential Job Functions Community Outreach and Recruitment and Family/Neighbor Follow-Up: • Serve as a point of contact for families, offering resources and support beyond playroom sessions. • Conduct follow-ups with families to ensure continuity of care and connection to services. • Develop outreach strategies to engage families who may benefit from our programs but are not yet participating and based on these strategies, recruit new participants for organization-wide programs. • Collaborate with community organizations and partners to connect families with additional resources. Playroom Support: • Facilitate a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children in the playroom. • Plan, organize, and oversee age-appropriate activities and programs that support children's growth and development. • Build strong, trusting relationships with children and caregivers during playroom sessions. • Monitor and document playroom participation and address individual needs as appropriate. Administrative Duties: • Maintain accurate records of family participation, follow-ups, and referrals. • Contribute to program evaluations and provide feedback for ongoing improvements. • Assist in creating reports on outreach and playroom activities as required. Collaboration and Advocacy: • Work closely with team members to identify family needs and develop tailored support plans. • Advocate for families by facilitating access to internal and external resources. • Participate in community events and initiatives to promote awareness of the organization's programs. Required Qualifications • Experience working with children and families in community-focused settings. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations. • Proficiency in managing records and reporting data. • Understanding of community resources and experience connecting families to services. • Flexibility to adapt to dynamic environments and a commitment to promoting equity and inclusion. Preferred Qualifications • Background in early childhood education, social work, or a related field. • Experience in outreach, family advocacy, or community engagement. • Multilingual skills are a plus. • Bachelor's Degree a plus Physical Requirements • Ability to engage in active play and supervise children and families. • Will require occasional evening or weekend availability for outreach events.
