Lab Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Histology Technician to join our team in a pathology laboratory. The ideal candidate will be responsible for organizing and processing tissue samples, ensuring quality assurance, and maintaining laboratory equipment. This is a 6 month contract with potential to become a permanent role, or have opportunity to transition to other labs within the hospital network.

Responsibilities

• Organize blocks in numerical, alphabetical, and numerical order

• Use the block melter for block melting

• Perform Block QA, especially with Beaker Go Live, involving computer work

• Pick up rush tissue cassettes and load them onto the tissue processor

• Run the Xylene recycler

• Clean molds using the mold cleaning unit

• Pick up tool boxes

• Change routine H&E stainer

• Pull blocks for recuts

• Assist in changing tissue processors as needed

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology or closely related field
