Cleveland Clinic HVAC Temperature Controls Technician II (Night Shift) in Cleveland, Ohio

This is a 3rd shift opportunity working (4) ten hour shifts.

As an HVAC Temperature Controls Technician II, you'll help maintain the safety and efficiency of equipment throughout our large main campus.

Responsibilities:

  • Documents and maintains records of inspections and work performed pursuant to departmental policies and warranty/vendor requirements.

  • Performs maintenance on HVAC equipment and systems such as chiller systems, reheat systems, variable frequency drives (VFD), air handling units (AHU), humidifiers, dampers, heating and cooling coils, cooling towers, and pumps throughout the facility.

  • Inspects and maintains all temperature, humidity, and data logging devices including meters and gauges.

  • Utilize the building management system (BMS) to address customer service requests, adjust temperature set points, and start and stop equipment.

  • Monitors HVAC related equipment with the aid of the building management systems as it relates to HVAC equipment.

  • Receives and responds to work orders from the computerized maintenance management system.

  • Ensures safe and effective operations and working environment.

  • Responds to alarms and alerts appropriately.

  • Work may occasionally be assigned across multiple Cleveland Clinic locations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to read blueprints.

  • Understanding the tools and techniques used to maintain, diagnose and repair HVAC systems.

  • Basic knowledge of the building management systems. (Direct Digital Controls, pneumatic, or analog/electric)

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to follow directions.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with one or more of the following systems: chiller systems, reheat systems, variable frequency drives (VFD), air handling units (AHU), humidifiers, dampers, heating and cooling coils, cooling towers and pumps throughout the facility.

  • Military experience such as Utilitiesman (UT), Machinists Mate (MM), HVAC/R (3E1X1), Utilities Equipment Repairer (91C), Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, & Refrigeration (3E1X1) or similar will be considered

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

  • Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

  • Ability to move/transport items weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)

  • Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)

  • Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)

  • Ability to inspect equipment

  • Ability to install, repair and maintain systems, equipment, fixtures and/or structures

  • Ability to distinguish color

  • Ability to climb ladders ​
