MetroHealth Chairperson-Pm&R in CLEVELAND, Ohio

The MetroHealth System (MHS) and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine seeks a dynamic and respected leader to be the next Chairperson of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). Located in Cleveland, Ohio, the MHS is a fully integrated provider of high-quality healthcare, inclusive of the MetroHealth Medical Center and over 60 additional inpatient and outpatient facilities throughout Cuyahoga County. The Chair must be a compelling leader and a recognized educator and/or investigator whose passion for the educational, clinical, and research missions energizes the faculty, staff, and learners, focusing their efforts on a strategic vision of excellence in all missions. Recruitment, retention and mentoring of junior faculty are critically important components of the position. The Chair will also be a prudent steward of the Department and MetroHealth, guiding it through the inevitable changes in healthcare and our society. The Chair will be viewed by all stakeholders as a strong advocate for balancing the academic, educational and clinical missions within the Department and a willing collaborator with colleagues outside of the Department. The Chair will promote a culture of institutional stewardship and transparency, including commitment to improved clinical and academic operations, efficient and effective use of space, and a willingness to re-align resources with evolving institutional strategies. The MHS includes a 550-bed academic medical center and is a Level I Trauma and Burn Center, a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and a federally designated Spinal Cord Injury Model Systems Center. The Department of PM&R serves as the clinical Department of PM&R at the MHS and the academic Department of PM&R at CWRU. The 2022-2023 US News & World Report ranked the MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute as the top rehabilitation hospital in OH and #24 nationally. ACGME training programs include a PM&R Residency and Fellowships in Brain Injury Medicine, Pain Medicine and Spinal Cord Medicine. The MetroHealth Center for Rehabilitation Research conducts cutting-edge rehabilitation research and has over $80 million in extramural research funding. The Department is presently ranked #1 in the nation in NIH funding (Blue Ridge) among Departments of PM&R in US Medical Schools. Qualified candidates must be Board Certified in PM&R and have a distinguished record of academic/clinical experience, research productivity and skilled in managing clinical activities within an academic environment. Compensation and academic appointment will be commensurate with experience and achievement.
