Profile: This Category Management role is responsible for the management of assigned Categories including but not limited to MRO, Packaging, Mobile Equipment and BU administrative services as well as management of critical supplier relationships in conjunction with the AES Category Lead or Global Director of Procurement Operations.

Essential Functions: The Category Manager(MRO) position within AES includes both creation of strategic vision and tactical management and execution, examples include but are not limited to:

  • The overall goal is to achieve the best total cost position and develop optimal sourcing strategies for all external spend within these Categories to ensure the highest efficiency and effectiveness of the AES Procurement team.

  • This role serves as the point of contact for the BU on supplier issues within the assigned categories including issues related to service, commercial terms, contract disputes and supplier strategy.

  • The person in this role must be able to execute global best-in-class procurement processes using state-of-the-art procurement IT software support, ensuring the Procurement organization is utilizing the maximum potential within North American and local markets (Cost Savings, Innovation, Quality, Logistics).

  • Accountable for Performance areas such as Cost Savings (SRT), Supplier performance, Productivity improvement and review of material & service specifications (demand management) opportunities.

  • Develop and execute commercial plans on a year over year basis in accordance with business unit objectives

  • Work with the commercial sales organization as needed to ensure that supplier contracts align with commercial programs as applicable and are aligned with the term of the agreements placed with our customers

  • Communicate with a wide range of stakeholders in finance, operations, engineering, business unit leadership; influence metal buyers/planners to ensure successful execution of contract parameters

  • Direct responsibility for spend within the respective Categories of MRO, Packaging, Mobile Equipment and BU administrative services across our AES business locations in North America

  • Achieve Procurement targets across AES for assigned categories of MRO, Packaging, Mobile Equipment and specific Corporate Fun (cost, innovation, quality)

  • Develops and executes Procurement strategies such as Low-Cost Country Sourcing strategies

  • Maintains business relationships with representatives of strategic suppliers for assigned categories.

  • Collaborates with other Procurement Operations team members and Business Unit Maintenance and Engineering functions using forums such as workshops to achieve category cost savings targets

  • Leads, co-leads, or supports commercial sourcing activity across all assigned categories as required to meet BU and Company objectives

  • Leads, co-leads, or supports non-commercial events as required to meet objectives, including, but not limited to Kaizen workshops, Working Capital/Inventory Workshops

  • Executes contract negotiations on commercial terms and conditions with suppliers classified in category or as assigned by Procurement leadership

Essential Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Information Technology, Finance, Accounting, Data Science/Analytics, Marketing/Communications, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering from an accredited Institution

  • Minimum 5 years previous work experience in Procurement, Commodity Management or Purchasing.

  • Minimum 2 years previous work experience with Maintenance Report and Operating Materials (MRO)

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
