Case Western Reserve University Assistant Vice President Research Computing and Infrastructure Services in Cleveland, Ohio

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The assistant vice president serves as a key member of the senior leadership team of the University Technology (UTech) division. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the assistant vice president assists in developing vision and strategy for information technology services that undergird the priorities of the Case Western Reserve University¿research, educational excellence, and student success. The assistant vice president drives vision, strategy, prioritization, budgeting, and resource planning for operations in the UTech division in support of delivering world-class information technology solutions and services to the university community. This includes but is not limited to providing leadership and direction for the university¿s wired and wireless data communications network; unified communications infrastructure and wired and wireless devices for voice communication; identity and access management services and systems; enterprise system integration services; server, storage, and backup infrastructure; private and public cloud computing services; enterprise administrative database management; data center services; and computing, storage, and network services in support of research. The assistant vice president is responsible for complex issues in assigned areas and more broadly across the division and university. The assistant vice president serves as a leader, coach, and mentor to UTech employees. The assistant vice president interacts with all levels of leadership across the university to assure alignment of technology solutions and services with the goals and priorities of university management centers and organizations. The assistant vice president serves as an executive engagement focal point for the university. The assistant vice president participates in broad, long-term planning for UTech and the university. The assistant vice president provides leadership and direction for the effective use of technology in support of the university¿s research mission and builds successful collaboration and cooperation with faculty and university senior management to establish world-class cyberinfrastructure resources for research including high-performance computing, petascale data storage, ultra-high bandwidth computer networks, secure and effective research data management, and scientific data visualization and analytic services. The assistant vice president leads and partners with faculty on successful external funding efforts to the NSF, NIH, DoE, and other federal, state, local, and private agencies and institutions. The assistant vice president is responsible for ensuring operational support for faculty and researcher use of local, regional, and national computational, storage, networking, research data management, and visualization resources and services to further the research mission of the university.
