Case Western Reserve University Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in Communication Sciences - Department of Psy in Cleveland, Ohio

Posted October 18, 2022 The Communication Sciences Program within the Department of Psychological Sciences at Case Western Reserve University is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor to begin AY 2023-2024. The department has a PhD program in communication sciences, a CAA accredited master's program in communication sciences (speech-language pathology), and a strong, diverse, and vibrant undergraduate program. Our PhD, MA, and BA graduates have a strong history of attaining tenure-track faculty positions, clinical faculty positions, and research director positions, have secured nationally competitive clinical fellowship placements, and are consistently admitted into top graduate programs for SLP and audiology, respectively. In 2022, our NSSLHA chapter received Chapter of the Year from National NSSHLA. In addition, the department has both an APA accredited Ph.D. program in clinical psychology, a PhD and master's program in Developmental, Cognitive, and Affective Sciences (DCAS), and an undergraduate program in psychology. The requested area of expertise in speech language pathology is open. Candidates whose work bridges into one or more of our other program areas - Clinical Psychology and the DCAS program - are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates will be evaluated on their potential to establish a prominent, externally funded research program and to excel in teaching and mentoring at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The standard teaching load is two courses each semester. Case Western Reserve University is a Research 1 institution, ranked among the best National Universities and the best college in Ohio (U.S. News and World Report, 2022). It is located in University Circle, a world-renowned area for its cultural vibrancy (including Severance Hall, the home of the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Art Museum, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Cleveland Botanical Garden, the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, and many more). Case Western Reserve University is located in walking distance to the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, the Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center, and the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, promoting very high research productivity and access to diverse patient populations. Class sizes are small (student to faculty ratio 11:1) allowing for dynamic, novel, and cutting-edge teaching opportunities at the undergraduate and graduate level. The student body is diverse with 92% of the undergraduate student body from the top 20% of their high school class. Case Western Reserve University students are eager for and committed to research. All faculty are provided with graduate research assistant support annually and the potential for undergraduate student research training is unlimited. The Communication Sciences Program faculty work together as an energetic and positive team continuously striving to strengthen the training and experience of our students. A PhD in Communications Sciences and Disorders or a related field and the certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology is required by the time of appointment (ABD applicants will be considered but must have earned their PhD prior to the beginning of the academic year).
