Northrop Grumman Aeronautics System Sector (NGAS) is seeking a Manager of Tool Die Making 1 to join our Tooling Operations Organization in the Aerospace Structures Business Unit (ASBU) . This manager will be part of a team of qualified, diverse, individuals located in Clearfield, Utah.

Tool Die Making Manager 1 Responsibilities :

  • This manager will supervise 8-12 hourly technicians.

  • Supervises employees responsible for tool inventory, conducting movement of tools, tool tracking, condition, and completeness.

  • Supervises employees who will coordinate with the transportation group to move tooling between buildings.

  • Supervises employees involved in the fabrication of tools, building of jigs and fixtures, template and pattern making, and model building.

  • Is familiar with current concepts, practices, and procedures utilized in the field as well as having a strong interest in new technological applications.

  • Ensures Tooling support of build/maintenance for production transition and sustained efforts.

  • Establishes, maintains, and improves processes/procedures to support site program efforts and supports the promotion of consistent current and common tool sets & processes across the organization, program IPTs, by collaborating with other Aeronautics Systems Sector Tooling Management.

  • Monitors and manages Risk items to ensure mitigating actions are effective and timely and promotes Lean, Knowledge Management, and other process improvement initiatives as well as sharing of lessons learned and best practices throughout the organization.

  • Management duties include personnel performance evaluation, merit planning, employee development.

  • Supervises employees involved in the daily operations of Tool Control and Accountability efforts, Tool transportation preparation, and monitoring of tool condition, wear, damage, and loss.

  • Supervises employees involved in the daily operations of Production Metrology efforts, Dimension Control Technician SOW, fabrication of tools, building of jigs and fixtures, template and pattern making, and model building.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of manufacturing/aerospace/design/tooling/tool engineering, manufacturing engineering, integration and/or fabrication industries/experience

  • 1 year leadership experience in a managerial, lead, or supervisory capacity

  • Microsoft Office Experience

  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance and the special program access PAR in a reasonable amount of time as required by the business prior to the commencement of employment.

  • The ability to work any shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret DoD clearance and Special Program Access.

  • Experience in MES, Asset Smart and SAP programs.

  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing.

  • Experience with warehousing and logistics.

  • Experience with Tooling control and accountability.

  • Experience in tool inventory, conducting movement of tools, condition, and completeness.

  • Tool Die Making or Machine Shop Experience strong background in assembly tooling, machine shop operations, welding, periodic tooling inspections, verifications, and reworks.

  • Experience working in Automated tooling environments.

Salary Range: $90,300 - $135,500

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
