THE POSITION

Are you looking for an opportunity to work in public service? The Department of Human Services, Clarks Summit State Hospital provides hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services to adults. We have an exciting career opportunity for a self-motivated Medical Records Director to lead our busy, service-oriented Medical Records Department.

We are planning for the implementation of an electronic health record (EHR) in approximately the fourth quarter of the 2024 calendar year. The Medical Records Director will play a key role in this transition, as well as post-implementation use and maintenance of the EHR. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

 

The key functions of this position will include meeting operational needs and fulfilling goals by successfully supervising and leading subordinate staff; quickly self-learning technology, laws, and regulations; and writing effective policies and procedures. In this role, it will be imperative to consistently meet deadlines with accurate work products; effectively label and analyze data; and proficiently develop, lead, and monitor performance improvement activities.

In addition, you will serve as the hospital's HIPAA privacy officer. You will evaluate requests for disclosure of patient protected health information (PHI), review assemblages of PHI prior to disclosure, and supervise the disclosure of patient PHI to authorized individuals. You will be responsible for immediately reporting identified, suspected, or potential breaches of confidentiality to the PI-RM Coordinator.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. May change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Registration as a Medical Records Administrator with the American Health Information Management Association; or
  • Two years of experience as a Medical Records Technician; and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association; or
  • Four years of experience in the preparation, classification and abstracting of medical reports in a medical records department; and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association. 

     

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
