Astronics-PECO, located in picturesque Clackamas, Oregon near the foothills of Mt. Hood, designs, certifies, manufactures, and sells a wide range of products to commercial, government, and military markets throughout the world. Our highly engineered interior and structural aerospace products are supplied to the largest aircraft manufacturers and are installed in aircraft around the globe, and our military products are used in critical national defense applications. The Max-Viz enhanced visions systems (EVS) are designed and certified for use as an improvement to safety by a vast array of airplanes, helicopters, and unmanned-aerial-vehicles in the commercial, government, and military marketplace. PECO-Controls are well established temperature control devices designed for applications where high quality is a must, such as the hospitality industry, commercial cooking, and other critical applications.

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to support the design, sustaining, and quality support activities for our dynamic thermostat controls product line. This individual will play a vital role in shaping the future of our commercial temperature control products, ensuring our products not only meet the rigorous demands of environments like hotel rooms, greenhouses, and agricultural applications but also maintain our high standards of reliability and performance.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of thermostat controls for commercial and agricultural applications, as well as safety limit switches for cooking appliances.

  • Act as the engineering liaison between sales, operations, and manufacturing partners to support product development and resolve manufacturing issues.

  • Provide technical support to customers and distributors, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of our product line and applications.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of new products into the existing lineup.

  • Lead the efforts in continuous product improvement, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.

  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including product specifications, test reports, and design modifications.

  • Participate in the creation of new product definitions by working closely with sales and marketing teams, transforming market needs into engineering solutions.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for innovation within the product line, ensuring our technology stays ahead of industry trends.

  • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced engineers and technical team members.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of industry experience in mechanical design, preferably in the HVAC, commercial temperature control, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated success in product design, development, and lifecycle management.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.

  • Proficient with CAD software and engineering tools.

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a capacity to engage effectively with team members, vendors, and all corporate levels.

  • Ability to self-direct, showing a strong sense of initiative and a commitment to lifelong learning.
