YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS INVOLVED?

You’ll provide Operational and Maintenance duties covering the strategic road network in Swindon and Gloucester, specifically 50+km of the A419/A417 based out of the depot in Cirencester. Your role will be to inspect the highways infrastructure, recording details of your inspections and working in collaboration with the contractors to programme and supervise any remedial works. This is a day’s base position but will require you to be on call 1 week in 7 and will require flexibility to work on public holidays if required.

  • Inspecting highway infrastructure (including detailed, safety and general inspections of carriageways drainage and street furniture) and recording collections on the database.

  • Prepare reports, including CAT 1, logging defects in a computer-based record system.

  • Assess and order any remedial works in addition to programming and supervising the routine and cyclic maintenance works to health & safety and quality standards.

  • Production and review of Risks Assessments and Method Statements.

  • A full job description can be available on request.

  • This is an operational role therefore hybrid working is not suitable, however occasional ad-hoc working from home is possible where required.

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE

  • Previous experience in highway maintenance operations.

  • Effective written and oral skills to produce reports and communicate to the public and local council officers.

  • Sound IT and computer skills able to communicate by email and use software packages for word processing and spreadsheets.

  • Able to read CAD drawings to locate defects on the highway.
