Additional location: Newburgh & New Windsor, NY

Salary: $58,458-$65,000 Based on Licensure

Employment Type: Exempt

Hours: Monday-Friday 10-6pm (40hrs)

A Master’s degree in social work or mental health counseling with applicable license or the ability to obtain and maintain a license within a one year period.

Job Description:

  • The Behavior Clinician demonstrates and promotes 100% commitment to providing the best possible experience for individuals served and direct and indirect supports.

  • The Behavior Clinician is responsible for ensuring the Behavior Support Plans and Medication Monitoring Plans are current and in compliance with all regulations, receive Human Rights Committee approval as appropriate, and are implemented appropriately.

  • The Behavior Clinician is responsible for ensuring that Risk Assessments and Risk Management Plans are written for the appropriate individuals, updated as appropriate, brought to OPWDD Local and Statewide Risk Management Committees as appropriate, and implemented as appropriate.

  • The Behavior Clinician is responsible for training of direct support staff in the implementation of Behavior Support and risk management plans and in the collection of behavior data.

  • The Behavior Clinician ensures respect for each person’s and his/her family’s life choices and individuality, facilitating quality outcomes for the people served and the community.

  • The Behavior Clinician assists in the development and implementation of appropriate skill, recreation, and support groups for the IDD population.

In this position, the Behavior Clinician will also have the following major responsibilities:

  • Inspires and promotes customer satisfaction.

  • Participates in the agency’s on call rotation

  • Participates in screening individuals for program vacancies as necessary

  • Train Direct Support Professionals on Behavior Support Plans, Medication Monitoring Plans, and Risk Management Plans as appropriate

  • Obtain and review behavior data regularly

  • Attend psychiatry appointments and Life Plan meetings

    Qualifications:

  • Effective communicator

  • Possess excellent relationship building skills, as well as, organizational and planning skills

  • Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team including leadership teams.

  • Possess sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics

  • Ability to organize, multitask and prioritize duties and responsibilities efficiently

  • Ability to work independently

  • Computer literacy

  • Must maintain current license/certification/training

  • Possess a valid driver’s license, work eligibility status and have an excellent driving record

    Education:

  • A Master’s degree in social work or mental health counseling with applicable license or the ability to obtain and maintain a license within a one year period.
