In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine's faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine is recruiting for a full time Senior Research Assistant in the Hyacinth Lab. This person will assist with the coordination of laboratory projects or research studies in a particular discipline, makes independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience. Essential Functions Independently perform experiments and records data according to research protocols. Perform immunohistochemistry staining using a prescribed protocol. Perform frozen sectioning using a crystostat. Perform transcranial perfusion. Solve problems using combined research knowledge. Analyze research results. Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. May maintain and oversee animal colony management and animal husbandry. Organize data search and analysis procedures. Assist in establishing test controls, criteria and research standards. Assist with the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data. Accomplish assigned results for projects/studies, or significant aspects of larger, complex assignments. Serve as a seasoned professional. May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). Perform related duties based on departmental needs. This job description can be changed at any time. Required Education Bachelor's Degree. Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. Required Experience Three (3) years of relevant experience. Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline. Additional Qualifications Considered Experience with Golgi-Cos impregnation histology is a plus. Experience with Rodent behavior and small animal live imaging is a plus but not required.
