We look forward to having you join the team! The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is the established leader in the implementation of inquiry-based learning in the full zoo visitor experience. We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as our Graduate Program Manager. This position supports this continued effort through the oversight, development, and evaluation of The Advanced Inquiry Program. Position Summary: Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Conservation Leadership Programs, it also serves as the zoo staff contact for Zoo Expeditions, Field Expeditions and the GFP program with Miami University Staff and Faculty which are our partners in this effort. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manages the development, review and revision of the AIP program and AIP student master plans. With an eye toward integrating the program and student project into the Zoo experience and the Cincinnati community. Coordinates and communicates program details with project Dragonfly at Miami University. Recruit students for the IAP program and create strategies to maximize participation with the most qualified applicants. Engage the growing AIP alum community to support existing courses and to create new AIP-affiliated courses that extend and deepen the AIP MI's reach into the Cincinnati community and the national AIP community. Strategically look for ways to build connections between our AIP program and AIP Masters Institutions nationally. Instruct, train, supervise and evaluate AIP students and their projects. Management and evaluation of the AIP courses, including evening and weekend efforts. Direct the marketing and recruitment of the AIP programs which includes web site , social media and print material content development. Serve as main contact with Miami University for IAP events at the CZBG. Submitting monthly progress reports on program status. Qualifications: An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job will be considered. Education & Experience Masters or Ph.D. in one of the Biological Sciences or Education; Extensive experience applying the scientific method in field settings and inquiry in the classroom; An academic and practical understanding or community-based conservation; Experience leading a wide range of environmental education or interpretive programs as well as formal university-level instruction; Experience with curriculum development and implementation; Experience advising graduate students and managing their projects; Demonstrated significant experience working in both the formal and informal settings; Experience leading environmental education or interpretive programs; Experience with curriculum development and program management; Experience managing staff, desirable.
