The Research Billing Analyst will coordinate and monitor research billing activities and practices for all UC Health and UC clinical research entities. The Research Billing Analyst will also be responsible for building research support tools within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and other applications. The Research Billing Analyst will also comply with institutional research and billing policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as governmental regulations regarding responsible conduct of research, research ethics and integrity, and protection of the safety and welfare of human subjects (including DHHS, FDA, and IRB regulations, HIPAA privacy, etc.Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree. | Epic Research Module Certification - must be obtained within 6-9 months of hire date. | 3 - 5 years of recent experience in clinical billing, finance, accounting, or coding (preferably research-related). Minimum of 1 year of experience within a clinical research environment. Experience working with an Electronic Medical Records system. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products.Utilize Coverage Analysis determinations to generate encounter documentation and billing calendars used in the conduct of clinical research. Create a research study billing scheme that the system uses to determine whether charges are related to a specific research study and how they should be handle Will Create study billing calendars, find patients needing research billing review, and configure which charges need review Build and test a sample study with a billing calendar, patient charge routing, and the charge review process. Assist research team members in setting up and maintaining appropriate billing and tracking processes for research related charges in the appropriate software programs (Epic, CTMS) Provides documented solution alternatives to problems/issues including adhoc reports to support offered solutions. Assist hospital and professional billing teams in research charge review activities. Create and configure research study administrative records for use throughout research workflows in Epic, including patient study enrollment. Manage the settings for institutional review board (IRB) approval for the study. Document the users associated with the study, such as the principal investigator and study coordinators. May define groupers related to the study for reporting purposes and build clinical protocols to use for the study Assist in process improvement initiatives related to research billing Work with staff to review these researchrelated charges and make changes to them as necessary Provide Work queue support related such qualified charge review, charge correction, view charge reports, identify root cause for issues and resolve Understands how research is used in the workflows of schedulers, clinicians, billers, and ROI staff to support clinical care and administrative needs.
