Job Summary Automation and Controls Technicians design, install, and maintain equipment used in modern industrial processes. Responsibilities include technical and controls maintenance and troubleshooting on a wide range of systems, from the simplest fuses and motors to sophisticated electronic computer interface boards, motor drives, programmable logic controllers, solid-state devices, and robotics. Key Duties Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities: Equipment procurement Collaborate with the Engineers in the identification and procurement of manufacturing equipment and automation. Design, installation, and maintenance of Process Research Laboratory equipment Leads cross functional troubleshooting. Collaborate with the project managers to ensure projects are on time, within budget, and successful. Maintenance Responsible for troubleshooting support to help identify the causes of product/production related problems. Collaborate with the maintenance staff to service equipment as needed. Design and implement process improvements and corrective actions. Process Design Designs and implements manufacturing equipment solutions to improve operational efficiencies. Collaborate with the production teams for new equipment and automation solutions for improved processes and new products from R&D. Build and install automation control systems (electrical/pneumatic). General Read, understand, and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Accurately complete all required documentation per SOP requirements. Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules as well as appropriate industry and regulatory guidelines. Communicate clearly and effectively with department peers, manufacturing personnel, as well as supervisors, managers, and directors. Train employees on proper equipment operation. Write and/or modify manufacturing and equipment related procedures as needed. Collaborate with Engineers, IT, Maintenance and Operators to optimize integrated control processes. Other duties as assigned. Other Duties/Physical Requirements: Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs throughout the workday in a multi-location facility. Must be able to lift 25 pounds routinely throughout the course of a workday. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (latex or nitrile gloves, face shield/safety glasses, hairnets, shoe coverings, etc.), including full gown when working in a clean room setting. Must be able to adhere to applicable biosafety practices when on the manufacturing floor or in laboratories. Ability to stand for long periods of time, stoop, reach, push and pull equipment throughout the course of the work shift. Ability to work on PC including repetitive use of a keyboard and mouse for long periods throughout the course of the workday. May be required to sit for long periods of time through the course of the work shift. Must be able to analyze and interpret data. Must be able to concent
