Real-Time Investigative Crime Analyst I Department: Police Employment Status: Non-Bargaining, Full-Time (40 Hours/Week) Salary: \$65,000 - \$70,000/Year Schedule: Varies Certifications/Licenses Required: Associate\'s Degree or higher in Criminal Justice, a social science or a liberal arts discipline, or an equivalent combination of the required education and experience. SUMMARY The City of Chicopee\'s Police Department is hiring a Real-Time Investigative Crime Analyst who will assist the Police Department in combating crime in real-time through the use of the department\'s extensive technological resources, conducting crime analysis to assist the department with predictive and targeted policing, and assisting officers and detectives with technological investigative support. Employees will be assigned in the department\'s Real Time Information Center (RTIC). ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE: Participate in a team or both sworn and civilian staff engaged in the operation of the Police Department\'s Real Time Information Center. Perform investigative analyst functions within the department\'s Real Time Information Center. Monitor City surveillance cameras and license plate reader systems. Monitor and search social media. Monitor and utilize police radio systems to communicate officer safety and urgent information to responding police units. Creates GIS maps displaying spatial data and performs spatial data analysis. Collects, analyzes and interprets data and statistics using quantitative and qualitative methodology. Develops crime/suspect and suspect/crime correlation and target profile analysis. Prepare and present complex and detailed statistical reports. Develop and present projects to both internal and external groups. Use computer databases, electronic spreadsheets, desktop publishing, geographical information systems (GIS), word processing, and statistical applications to manipulate, analyze and present data. Respond to requests for information and analytical reports. Assist in the development of new programs, procedures, methods and systems. Assist with training of police officers, police administrators, new employees and interns. Understand and implement assigned duties and responsibilities to support team goals and objectives. Work with IT staff and software vendors to identify and troubleshoot system and application problems. Work cooperatively with other team members, receive and share information. Adhere to state and federal policies regarding the handling of criminal offender record information and other sensitive information. Performs similar duties as required. The employee will have access to confidential and sensitive information in the performance of their duties. The ability to maintain confidentiality is absolutely essential. QUALIFICATIONS Associate\'s Degree or higher in Criminal Justice, a social science or a liberal arts discipline, or an equivalent combination of the required education and experience (above) and/or experience and certification listed below: - Required An industry recognized certification in crime analysis can be substituted for one year of the required education and/or experience. Experience in a Real Time Information or Crime Center can be substituted on a year for year basis for the educational requirement.
