HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE WORKER The City of Chicopee\'s Department of Public Works / Highway Division is hiring a Highway Maintenance Worker who is responsible for maintaining roadways, sidewalks, lawns, tree, drains, sewer lines and public infrastructures such as buildings. Qualifications To be minimally qualified, one must meet the following criteria: High school diploma or equivalent; or one to three-months related experienced and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Massachusetts Class B CDL driver\'s license required. Massachusetts Class A CDL driver\'s license to be obtained within one (1) year of hire. Willingness to perform heavy manual labor. Licenses (If Applicable) CDL- B License required, CDL A (Obtained within one year of hire date) Essential Duties Include Perform construction maintenance work on streets, sidewalks, tree belts and other public property. Perform excavation, bracing, sheet pilling and grading. Fill potholes and cave-ins. Maintains, cleans and construct sewers, catch basins, drains and manholes. Clear overgrowth. Actively participates in snow and ice removal operations. Performs \"Flag\" duties at job sites on occasion. Erects manholes and catch basins. Lays sewer pipe and house waste connections. May assist in Forestry operations as needed. Operates air compressor and jackhammer. Performs general labor duties as required. Drives highway maintenance vehicles and completes daily vehicle maintenance logs. Abide by City of Chicopee Health and Safety policies and procedures. Salary/Compensation Employment Status: UFCW Administration Union, Non-Exempt; Full-Time Salary: Grade A05, Step 05 - Starting at \$17.78 per hour Expected Hours of Work This is a Full-Time, 40-hour per week position, with a schedule of 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
