The Visual Designer role sits within the Brand team that resides in our overall Marketing department. This role is responsible for the ideation, creation and production of brand specific print, visual and digital media. This includes but is not limited to the art of blending both design + visual storytelling through sales collateral, website, advertising, events, social media, email and internal campaigns. The Visual Designer will effectively communicate and collaborate with the Manager, Visual Design, to ensure all goals and objectives are met. The candidate must be self-motivated, capable of taking direction, possess great attention to detail and able to work in a fast- paced environment. This role reports to the Manager, Visual Design and collaborates with other members of the Marketing team, as well as other key stakeholders.

Our corporate headquarters is in Chicago, IL. This role operates on a hybrid work model; employees spend two days working in the office and three days working remotely. We offer 401k plus vision, dental and medical benefits, as well as a paid holiday and PTO package.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create high quality designs for digital, print and offline customer touchpoints.

  • Perform image enhancement.

  • Participate and contribute to creative brainstorms for brand and product launches.

  • Present creative concepts and designs to the team, effectively communicating your rationale and being receptive to feedback.

  • Contribute to the definition and creation of flexible, coherent design systems and component libraries that can be used across different projects and platforms.

  • Ensure that all visual work is consistent with our brand guidelines, effectively implementing these standards across all touchpoints.

  • Collaborate with various departments to understand their design needs and translate their needs into effective templates and/or artifacts.

  • Engage with internal clients to understand project goals and deliver designs that meet or exceed expectations.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) required, preferably in Art and Design with an emphasis in Creative Arts, Graphic Arts, Visual Design, UX/Design and/or Interaction Design, with at least 3 years of proven visual design and/or Interaction Design experience, ideally in B2B, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the distribution and/or manufacturing industries is a plus!

  • Strong understanding of the creative process; from ideation through implementation, with the ability to bring concepts to life in a compelling way

  • Strong understanding of typography, design principles, color, trends and best practices across digital and print

  • Understanding of production best practices for print and digital mediums, ensuring that designs are optimized for each platform

  • High level of accountability and abilities to meet deadlines

  • Familiarity with brand strategy and working from briefs

  • Exceptional attention to detail with relentlessly high-quality standards

  • Ability to influence, collaborate and be adaptable within cross-functional teams and internal clients

  • Understanding of visual design and layouts for traditional and eCommerce websites, mobile apps, channels, and offline experiences (e.g.: events, collateral, etc.)

  • Ability to distill goals into clean, compelling layout and design

  • Hungry to consistently enhance skills, and stay current with the latest design trends and technologies

  • A sharp eye for detail with the ability to implement quality control, assisting team to continually improve and elevate critical thinking and work product

  • Proficiency in juggling multiple, concurrent projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to think outside the box and drive creative solutions, bringing innovative ideas to the forefront of design projects.

  • Understanding that the input of the team is critical while guiding everyone to be better at what they do and how they perform - we are better together

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills while being process-oriented

  • Organized and focused on optimal team productivity and efficiencies

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Monday.com, PageProof

  • Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign

  • Portfolio of previous work

  • Experience in User Experience/UX is a plus

  • Experience in designing with compliance to WCAG 2.0/2.1 AA guidelines is a plus
