Job Description:

This is a fantastic opportunity to work as a Project Technical Leader for site design projects and pursuits throughout the country, with a focus on projects for CTA, Metra, and other Chicago-area clients. You will be responsible for coordination and management of the technical content of projects including driving the technical vision of the end product, ensuring the technical accuracy of the work product, ensuring the right technical skill sets are on the project at the correct time, developing and mentoring technical project staff, managing project financials, and coordinating all aspects of the project with our clients.

With high-level goals provided, develops large-scale mass transit projects of basic to high complexity to meet client project requirements. Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and signs off on completed designs. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Signs and seals engineering designs as necessary. Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updates design requirements as necessary. Inspects new construction and existing transportation structures as necessary. Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs). Reviews draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices. Meets with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs. Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. Performs other duties as required. Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.

-Professional engineering (PE) license.

-10 years of related experience.

-Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

-IL PE & ability to get reciprocity in other states, with a preference for FL and TN.

-Strong background in civil-site design, preferably with clients like CTA, Metra, and/or Illinois Municipal roadway/highway design projects.

-Experience managing and delivering site design projects from initiation through final design.

-Minimum of ten years of relevant experience in conducting work in the following areas: a)Developing project scope of work and fee proposals b)Managing task or project level budgets and schedules c)Providing day to day direct oversight of transportation design projects d)Developing project design criteria, alignments, construction plans, construction specifications, and cost estimates e)Writing of technical reports f) Assigning daily work, and mentoring younger engineers.

-In-depth understanding of site development principles as they relate to transportation projects, such as: a)Site grading and drainage b)Utility coordination c)Utility design (water, sewer, etc.) d)Paving and grading e)Erosion control and stormwater management f)Green Infrastructure g)Geotechnical considerations.

-Experience completing Hydrologic and Hydraulic analysis of drainage systems and design of stormwater management.

-Experience managing and delivering site design projects from initiation through final design.

-Ability to present in front of a large group.

-Strong communication and technical writing skills.

-Task leader, discipline leader, or project management experience including development of project proposals and creation of scope of work documents.
