Purpose of Role:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for providing preparing journal entries, financial reports and information by researching and analysing accounts. Additionally, the staff accountant will be responsible for the review of the general ledger data and the preparation of reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare daily and month-end close journal entries.

  • Prepare Bank Reconciliations.

  • Perform daily and monthly general ledger account reconciliations.

  • Input of Accounts Payable data.

  • Follow up on outstanding invoices.

  • Prepare audit work papers and additional requests.

  • Assist with 1099 reporting and other financial issue.

  • Ensuring compliance with the company's regulatory requirements under the SEC, FINRA, NFA, CFTC and other applicable exchanges.

  • Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.

  • Role model for demonstrating highest level standards of integrity and conduct and reflecting Company Values.

  • To ensure that you are fully aware of and adhere to internal policies that relate to you, your role or any other activities for which you have any level of responsibility.

  • To report any breaches of policy to Compliance and/ or your supervisor as required.

  • To escalate risk events immediately.

  • To provide input to risk management processes, as required.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field at minimum.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of basic accounting processes, procedures and GAAP.

  • Experience in PeopleSoft accounting software preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with the financial services industry
