Axxum Technologies Senior Microsoft dynamics Great Plains (GP) / Lead Project Manager in Chicago, Illinois

Senior Microsoft dynamics Great Plains (GP) / Lead Project Manager

# of positions: 1

Start Date: 4/1/2024

Project Duration: 6 Months

Workday: 8 hours per day

Work Location: Chicago / Remote

Technical Environment: Upgrade Dynamics GP2010 to GP18.5

Project Description:

Will provide the training, and associated costs, for Clerk support staff in software specific to the MS Dynamics GP application or associated applications (e.g., Smart Connect) prior to transition of the application to the Clerk support team (i.e., Level 1 & Level 2)

Required Skills:

  • A senior Microsoft dynamics Great Plains (GP) consultant who has experience upgrading from GP2010 to GP18.5.  Prefer someone who has led the conversion or at minimum has a good understanding of the steps necessary.

  • Good communication skills are a must.

  • Some PM skills are a plus.

  • Candidate should have current experience in two versions of Dynamics GP. (1) Real Estate Tax Services Division (TSD), currently running on Dynamics GP2010, and (2) Recordings Division. The longer-term goal is to upgrade TSD to GP18.5. We would need a new Windows Server 2016 machine and SQL Server 2014 or 2017.

  • This would consist of a multi-hop upgrade:

  • GP 2010-> GP 2015

  • GP 2015-> GP 2016

  • GP 2016-> GP 18.5

  • Candidates will install W2012 R2 server with SQL 2014. Install GP 2013 and upgrade first to GP 2013, upgrade to GP 2016 and finally to GP 2018. We would then upgrade the forms and report. Dictionaries at each hop and after the final hop update the SQL compatibility level to SQL 2017.

  • Candidates will do a test upgrade on the new server. GP 2013 will not run on SQL 2017 so it would be best to throw together an image. This way once everything has been tested, work with the office to shut down for a weekend, perform the upgrade, and copy to the final production server. GP 2013, 2016 and 2018 will run on SQL 2014. Any other path will require you to put up multiple images.
