Technical Operations
Our Technical Operations team is responsible for maintaining some of the best aircraft in the world. Comprising aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment professionals, and supply chain experts, we ensure our fleet is always ready to transport our customers safely and efficiently. Key responsibilities:
As a Senior Engineer- Component Engineering within the Technical Operations Engineering team, you will support the Component Engineering Group. Your primary focus will be to analyze and solve problems related to aircraft and components' design, operation, maintenance, performance, modification, or repair. Your responsibilities will include:
Write clear technical documents for testing, repair, and overhaul of components to meet manufacturer and regulatory standards.
Analyze component data (e.g., removal records, shop findings) to identify root causes and initiate corrective actions.
Develop solutions, including cost/benefit analysis and implementation plans, and manage project execution, often requiring FAA approvals and warranty recovery coordination.
Address production issues related to design, performance, and modifications, and communicate solutions effectively.
Collaborate with internal teams to provide financial justifications for proposed solutions.
Build relationships with OEMs and MRO partners for assigned components.
Interpret technical manuals such as CMM, AMM, and SB, and provide engineering disposition for technical issues.
Prioritize tasks and coordinate efforts with operational groups to maintain airworthiness, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Location : This position is based at CSC-Willis Tower in Chicago, IL. A hybrid work schedule is available, typically requiring three days in the office, subject to change based on company needs.
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Industrial) or a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
2-4 years of experience in an engineering role within the airline industry.
Working knowledge of airline, MRO, or OEM operations.
Familiarity with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), airworthiness design criteria, and aircraft operational characteristics.
Engineering skill sets which can be applied to a range of aircraft systems, components, maintenance programs, and engines.
Ability to analyze complex technical issues, detailed level of project management for regulatory compliance modifications.
Willingness to travel up to 20%
Excellentverbal and technical writing skills needed.
Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Successful completion of an interview to meet job qualifications.
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
Experience with Powerplant ATA Chapters 70-80.
Knowledge of general ATA chapters, including aircraft systems, structures, and avionics.
Familiarity with FARS (145, 25, 121).
Proficiency in MS Office and MS Teams.
Experience in programming languages (Python, SQL, JavaScript) is a plus.
