Job Description

Position Overview

As Senior Analyst, Vegetation Management, you will support Invenergy\'s vegetation management program for utility-scale solar projects in the upper Midwest region of the United States. You will assist on projects from the early permitting stages, through pre-construction vegetation planning, construction implementation, and into successful restoration conditions in operations. Under supervision of experienced colleagues, you will coordinate across multiple internal teams and support each project in the development and implementation of its vegetation management strategy. This will also require interaction with external vegetation consultants, general contractors, regulatory agencies, and customers to ensure successful implementation and compliance with the project\'s strategy during development, construction, and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support your Manager in directing vegetation consultants on developing project-specific vegetation management plans that meet the conditions of state and local regulations, outline steps for contractor guidance, and address customer expectations. As part of this process, you will build relationship with regional consultants, create and prepare for distribution Request for Proposals, review proposals and make recommendations to your Manager, and support the drafting and finalization of project documents.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner such as technical report review, analysis of seed mix(es), drafting of language for permit applications, and file organization.
  • Assist management in evaluating if a project has met its vegetation objectives and complies with the conditions of permit requirements and costumer expectations.
  • Conduct site visits to projects during construction and operational stages in the appropriate growing season windows to evaluate vegetation performance, review ongoing vegetation management processes, and provide summary to the project team on needed next steps to ensure successful establishment.
  • Support management on review of project documents and plans, development of vegetation management improvements and processes, and forward-thinking strategies that are relevant to Invenergy\'s vegetation program.
  • Propose initiatives that support sustainability, ecosystem benefits, and mitigation opportunities for projects in your portfolio.

Required Skills

  • 1+ years in renewable energy or 4+ years in a similar industry with experience managing responsibilities similar to those listed above
  • Familiarity with common revegetation practices such as seed-bed preparation, seed installation, establishment mowing, invasive species control, and adaptive management
  • Background in biology, restoration ecology, land reclamation, botany, soil science, or related field
  • Strong communication, writing, and personal skills; ability to work and build consensus across teams
  • Analytical and solutions-focused with the proven ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Skills

  • Advanced degree in restoration ecology, land reclamation, botany, soil science, or related field
  • Familiarity with c nservation and sustainability concepts
  • Experience working on general construction projects
