Google Senior Analyst, Spend Controllership in Chicago, Illinois

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).

  • 7 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 5 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree in Accounting.

  • Experience improving business processes and systems, with the ability to succeed in ambiguity.

  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems, spreadsheet software, and SQL, with excellent analytical skills.

  • Understanding of accounting principles, including US GAAP, with strong technical accounting skills.

  • Ability to lead and drive complex initiatives cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment across a large, complex, global organization.

  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills, to communicate effectively with and influence senior management and cross-functional business partners.

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. You'll lead an accounting process from end-to-end. Other responsibilities include reconciling balance sheets and P&L accounts, and providing supplementary financial information for internal and external reports.

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring that Google has exceptional processes and controls. You will ensure that processes and systems are aligned and that a culture of continuous process improvement with tangible wins exists. You will be an integral part of the E2E financial reporting process and work with global teams. You will be part of the broader global Spend Controllership team and will coordinate closely across all finance areas on financial reporting matters related to Alphabet.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$180,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Present month-end results, business reviews, and agreement reviews to upper level management and identify opportunities for process improvements, driving the implementation of solutions.

  • Recognize potential areas of risk proactively and develop risk management strategies.

  • Oversee and drive quarterly close and reporting activities, collaborating with business partners to define and establish scalable processes to address recurring and future reporting needs.

  • Be responsible for internal and external reporting, variance, and other analysis prepared for senior management. Be a subject matter authority in our reporting tools.

  • Provide support on finance issues, ensuring compliance with policies and practices by working as a liaison between the business and finance.
