Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for general accounting functions supporting A/R, A/P, Treasury, Tax, Fixed Assets and other special projects as identified. The position also assists with the development of annual budgets and be actively engaged in the year-end audit. The position also performs a quality and control role through the review of journal entries created by other team members. The role works cross functionally with Commercial, Portfolio, Risk, operations, and IT on an ongoing basis.
Responsibilities
Preparing monthly analysis of assigned balance sheet accounts and participation in a monthly balance sheet review
Provide accounting support to billing & collections team regarding deferred/unearned schedules accounting, A/R reconciliations of the GL and Subledger
Support A/R delinquency efforts and research and resolution of unapplied cash and credits
Assist in the drafting of footnotes in the annual audited financial statements
Assist in the development of the annual budget
Assist in the preparation of monthly reports for lenders and securitized asset pools
Reviewing account reconciliations and journal entries of others in a quality assurance and control role
Provide back up support for various team members
Perform analysis and classification testing for operating versus capital leases
Develop and maintain amortization schedules for capital leases and other balance sheet accounts
Special projects as assigned
Requirements
Requirements:
Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
3-5 years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
SEC reporting and SOX compliance is a plus
Familiarity with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
Skilled with ERP systems
Sound written and verbal communication skills
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Microsoft Excel experience
Strong attention to detail
Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
Exceptional time management skills preferred
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
