Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Energy Business Line Sector Leader (BLSL), the Power Delivery Sector Leader (SL) supports and drives top line growth and opportunity development across North America’s Power Delivery Sector. The SL will work collaboratively with Energy Sector Leaders, Regional Business Leaders (RBL’s), Business Center Operation Leaders (BCOLs), Business Center Practice Leaders (BCPLs), Account Managers, and Marketing to identify and develop project opportunities and create win strategies through deep understanding of the power delivery sector, client needs/requirements, and our competition.

You’ll assist our business centers (BCs) with building/developing teams to drive results and support anticipated growth. The SL is expected to be Stantec’s expert and go-to person on the direction of the North American power delivery marketplace and associated technologies/services, vendors and other changes that are impacting the sector.

The SL will network with other Stantec business lines and SL’s to stay current with Stantec’s overall market position as it relates to the Power Delivery sector, and work collaboratively to develop business plans to meet annual sales and growth targets, and build and maintain our brand in North America.

This position would be considered in any location in the US/Canada with a Stantec presence.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating the vision, focus, and priorities of our North American power delivery teams. You’ll document, communicate, and drive your plan using a comprehensive annual business plan for our power delivery sector that identifies key clients, revenue and sales goals, marketing strategies for brand development and industry engagement, MBD spend budgets, and key performance indicators (KPIs). You’ll develop this plan with input from other key stakeholders, including business centers (e.g., BCPLs), regional business developers (e.g., RSLs), marketing teams, and other business operating units that operate in the sector (e.g., Environmental Services).

  • Identifying key clients that have the potential for significant profitable and sustained growth within the power delivery sector. Clients will include electric power utilities (both public and private), developers, and energy companies. Using published data, market intelligence, and your deep understanding of market drivers/incentives you’ll drive account management program excellence within these key power delivery clients, including supporting the selection of account managers and account plan development/monitoring to ensure sales and growth targets are met and our account teams are implementing best practices to maximize growth.

  • Beyond identifying key clients, you’ll be responsible for fostering relationships with key subcontractors, construction partners, and other entities to ensure sustained growth in the North American power delivery market.

  • Identifying key market trends and required service offerings that will form the basis of sustained growth in the power delivery sector. Using your knowledge of power delivery markets, published information, and client intel you’ll work with our business centers and our Integrated Design Team to forecast demand for both existing (e.g., substation physical design) and new service offerings (e.g., extra high voltage transmission lines, undergrounding of transmission lines, Project Management/Construction Management (PMCM), etc).

  • Sustaining and growing sector revenue and sales while working collaboratively with the regional business centers, account teams, and project teams to achieve defined operational performance metrics.

  • Actively engaging in pursuits that support the power delivery business plan, including assisting or leading pursuit teams in Go – No Go analysis, proposal development, or commercial interviews.

  • Facilitate partnerships amongst business developers and functional services teams.

  • Participate and achieve all HSSE goals as well as utilization targets.

  • Marketing And Business Development

    • Working collaboratively with the sector teams and the BC leaders across regions to support and drive sector wide business development pursuits including strategic proposal development for the sector and coordinating a core group of professionals to achieve business development and financial goals.
    • Updating and maintaining business/sector reports and creating a culture of timely updates of Pipeline records and pursuit status reports
    • Developing and driving the sector Marketing and Business Development (M&BD) plans, budgets, and key performance indicators in collaboration with BC leadership.
    • Developing, reviewing, and facilitating business approvals for proposals, rates, and contract documents in accordance with Stantec policy.
    • Developing and maintaining industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, competitor/ teaming partners, and potential recruits.
    • Champion and conduct client surveys to capture accurate feedback and develop action plans to share the positive results and take advantage of the opportunities for improvement across the Business Line.
    • Attending selected conferences and maintaining active memberships in associations (such as board posts and committee memberships), as needed.
    • Participate/support recruiting activities to develop sector team.
  • People Management

    • Coach, mentor, and support development of a team of professionals dedicated to growing our Energy business and further developing Stantec’s profile in the marketplace.
    • Support annual reviews of BCPL’s, RSL’s and MBD staff that contribute to sector pursuits.
    • Support/facilitate sector succession plan development.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credential

  • Demonstrated leadership ability to engage, connect and motivate others as well as empower, mentor, teach, and promote staff.

  • Project delivery experience working with a diverse and geographically distributed team and client base.

  • Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering services related to power projects.

  • Experience in business development, proposal, and budget development.

  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong network within industry

  • Ability to travel up to 15% and work outside normal hours of operation.

  • Valid driver’s license

Education And Experience

  • Minimum 20 years of experience managing pursuits and delivery of engineering design and construction services within the Power Delivery Sector. Preference will be given to those candidates with a broad background in power delivery, including each of following subsectors: transmission and distribution lines, system studies, substations, HVDC or EHV, and protection and controls.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer is preferred.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $202,700 - $314,300 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
