Job overview and responsibilities
The Portfolio Project Manager's primary responsibility is to oversee multiple projects within a portfolio, ensuring their alignment with the department's strategic objectives. This entails close collaboration with stakeholders and senior leadership to prioritize projects, manage resources, and secure the successful delivery of project outcomes. The role demands strong leadership, organizational adeptness, and the ability to navigate intricate project environments.
Work with senior leadership to define portfolio strategy and ensure it aligns with the department's objectives
Evaluate portfolio and provide recommendations on areas for improvement in project and financial management, core support, and release management
Monitor portfolio performance, manage risks, and optimize resource allocation
Allocation of resources efficiently across the portfolio, identify resource bottlenecks, and propose solutions to maintain project timelines
Track financial performance across the projects, ensuring cost control
Report on Financial metrics and adjust plans to achieve the financial targets
Establish and maintain governance structures for portfolio management for the department

Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in related field of study
4+ years of related experience
Proven experience in managing large-scale projects
Strong understanding of project management methodologies such as Agile
Strong leadership and communication skills
Risk management and problem-solving skills
Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams
Financial acumen and experience managing budgets
Ability to thrive in project environments that often start with uncertain requirements or outcomes
Ability to put definition and structure around problems and projects
Strong organization skills and strong attention to detail
Outstanding writing, communication and presentation skills
Proven proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Must be a team focused individual
Preferred
Master's degree
Project Management (PMI) Certification (Preferred)
Lean Six Sigma certification (Preferred)
