Faculty of the College of Nursing contribute to the mission of the college by integrating the roles of teacher, researcher or clinical practice scholar, and leader. Faculty workload are based on the needs of the College of Nursing, as well as on the candidate’s expertise and interest and are established annually with the Department Chairperson. The College is organized in four departments: Adult Health and Gerontological Nursing; Community Systems and Mental Health Nursing; Women, Children and Family Health and Academic Practice Nursing. We seek colleagues who will demonstrate a commitment to the College, department goals, educational programs, professional advancement and support a collegial and diverse educational environment.
General Responsibilities: ( Specific responsibilities and area of focus may vary by department and rank * )
Teaching/Education
Demonstrates competence in teaching.
Contributes to the instructional program and curricular development and evaluation
Integrates state of the science literature into teaching activities
Serves as a student advisor and/or precepts graduate students in clinical and/or research activities
Research
Demonstrate engagement in a program of research or a defined area of scholarship that gains external support and recognition.
Disseminate findings from scholarship of discovery.
Clinical Practice
Demonstrate competence and engagement in clinical practice, expertise and knowledge.
Disseminates findings from best practices and translating evidence to practice
College and Professional Service
- Provide service that enhances the College and University’s academic environment, health professions, organizations, clinical practice, or health outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
Nursing Faculty shall have:
For instructor rank a MSN degree. For rank at Assistant and above a Doctoral Degree in Nursing
Maintains National Certification as appropriate
Current licensure in the State of Illinois. If working remotely, current RN licensure in the home state of residence is required.
Preferred – Additional qualifications may apply for specific openings. Some faculty roles do not require RN licensure but do require a terminal degree in a field other than nursing.
