Charles Schwab Manager, IT Product Management in Chicago, Illinois

The primary responsibility for this role is to ensure the seamless, uninterrupted operation of our streaming trading platforms and associated admin applications including thinkorswim, TOS Mobile, TOS Web, and all other related Trader Group Applications. This individual proactively monitors all systems for potential issues and as issues occur, will serve as the central point for remediation and resolution as well as prioritization for decisions related to time sensitive issues.

This role will also support Trader Web related activities such as Futures/FX OLA, TD Direct Investing Support, Portfolio Margin OLA and TraderWise/Autotrade related functionality. This role also includes assistance with product development initiatives at all stages of the product development life cycle as well as taking on additional applications in a support role as well as serving as the SME for the TOS suite of products across the business. The role is also responsible for coordinating all upcoming change activity for risk and understanding to the TOS ecosystem.

The IT Product Manager (individual contributor) is responsible for:

  • Supporting production by testing reported issues and providing documentation to T2 of details and current impact

  • Monitoring and production support of all issues that affect Active Trading products, such as order routing, margin, trading path, market data and other Active Trading related issues, API and partner connectivity

  • Works with various business and technical teams on performance issues, gathering error reports, and system performance degradation

  • Documentation and tracking of production issues and the impact on application availability

  • Creating and maintaining requirements for upcoming development projects

  • Working with various internal and external teams for gathering product requirements and implementation

  • Working with external vendors in a relationship management role to facilitate any needs/investigations or requests from the vendor side across multiple domains (Fix connectivity, 3rd party API management, market data management, etc.)

  • Assisting various development groups with the prioritization of feature requests and defect tickets

  • Integrating repeated feedback requests into the requirements for the development

  • Assisting in the releases by testing, helping with release notes, creating test cases, working with developers on tickets/fixes, etc.

  • Coordinating testing groups for upcoming releases as well as communicating with Workforce Management as to the potential impact of the changes on service levels

  • User acceptance testing prior to releases

  • Collecting and coordinating feedback from release testers for patches and releases

  • Helping with implementation of new features and products, relating to requirements gathering, release planning and other implementation details relating to their rollout

  • Managing the TD Ameritrade Development lifecycle for Active trader products ticket creation as well as have an understanding and willingness to collaborate with other TD Ameritrade App Dev teams in their own development process

  • Coordination with various teams on large-scale projects which will impact the Active Trader products (DR, nexgen OMS, API etc.)

  • Performing functional and UAT testing on supported applications before and after releases

  • Serving as subject matter expert for all related applications under the Trader Support Portfolio

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to be available outside business hours to ensure that any issues which arise within the Active Trader Products are found and resolved in timely manner; ability to work on-call to include nights and weekends as needed on short notice

  • Associate's Degree; Military education or experience may be considered in lieu of civilian requirements listed

  • 3-5 years of related product management experience

  • Demonstrated ability in sound decision-making, prioritization, and multi-tasking in fast-paced high risk environment

  • Ability to learn quickly, assume ownership, and provide direction on projects that involve various functions (Compliance, Operations, Technology)

  • Familiarity with social media, web design, and advanced trading applications; proficient in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to operate in an Agile development environment delivering complex functionality in an expedited manner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of the TD Ameritrade Change Process

  • Bachelor's Degree with concentration in Finance or Math

  • Excellent interpersonal (communication, writing, listening, presenting) and organizational (time, project, and people management) skills

  • Series 3, 7, 63, 99 licenses
