The Legal Intern at RWE Clean Energy will work with industry experts, contribute to real-world projects, forge valuable connections, and grow personally and professionally in the sustainable energy sector. Reporting to the VP of Corporate Legal Services but engaging in projects from across the legal function, including M&A, real estate, compliance, and regulatory, the intern will assist with legal research, contract and lease review, M&A diligence, and corporate governance matters.
Role Responsibilities:
Conduct legal research on a variety of topics and draft business-oriented summaries of the same
Assist with drafting of agreements, filings, consents, corporate governance documents and other documents
Ensure contracts adhere to legal standards
Liaise with stakeholders to gather information
Actively participate in legal meetings and trainings
Assist with the implementation of new legal operations processes designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the legal team
Assist with the creation of training and Legal 411 videos tailored to both legal colleagues and business clients
Provide administrative support to the legal team as needed, including taking notes during meetings and hearings, organizing legal files and similar
Job Requirements and Experiences:
Enrolled in an accredited US university Juris Doctor (JD) program
No substantive legal experience is required; some familiarity with contract law concepts from a course or law school clinic is preferred
Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team
Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
This is a full-time 12-week summer internship starting the first week of June in our Austin, TX, or Chicago, IL, office.
Pay range: The base hourly range for this position in Illinois for undergraduates is $25.00-$35.00 an hour, and for graduates is $30.00--$40.00. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
