The Opportunity:

Flexport is looking for a Human Resources Information Systems Manager (“HRIS Manager”) to join our Global People Solutions Team. The HRIS Manager will help build and lead a team of HRIS professionals while serving as an invaluable thought partner to the People Organization (Global People Operations,Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, People Business Partners, Payroll) to convert the business needs into designs through architecture best practices, principles and process excellence. You will:

  • Play a critical role in creating a People Technology vision and defining requirements for the HR Systems workstreams.

  • Collaborate with HR leadership and stakeholders to identify and implement system improvements and process efficiencies.

  • Assess HR processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and optimization, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Strive for operational excellence by maintaining system/process documentation and automating processes.

  • Provide hands-on leadership combining strategic thinking and tactical execution.

  • Maintain a comprehensive ticketing system to track all issues, including bugs, enhancements, and projects related to HR technology. Utilize the ticketing data for analytics purposes to monitor trends, prioritize tasks, and enhance operational efficiency within the HRIS environment.

  • Partner closely with customers to drive and prioritize the HR technology roadmap, identifying required resources.

  • Guide and develop a team of Senior Analysts/Product Owners through coaching and mentoring.

  • Lead end-to-end system implementations, managing project activities and acting as Workday Lead.

  • Execute People Team vision and HR technology strategy to optimize system potential.

  • Develop customized reports and analytics supporting HR and business decision-making processes.

  • Manage system contracts and renewals with the Procurement team.

  • Maintain optimal performance of the firm’s HRIS system (Workday), including system configuration, integration, security, testing, reporting, and data analytics.

  • Develop a dashboard model for key talent metrics.

  • Translate business objectives and user needs into clear technical requirements.

  • Proactively mine system data, analyze information, and recommend process enhancements.

  • Manage permissions, security access, personalization, and system settings for HRIS users.

  • Serve as a liaison between HR and Business Services departments regarding HRIS data and integrations.

  • Ensure compliance with data security and privacy requirements, globally.

  • Maintain data integrity through system audits and maintenance.

  • Conduct training for new system users, create training materials, and user guides.

  • Develop user procedures, guidelines, and documentation for HR systems.

  • Maintain awareness of HRIS trends and apply key technologies for product and service development and support.

  • Demonstrated interest in AI technologies and willingness to learn how AI can enhance HRIS platforms like Workday, including basic understanding of machine learning concepts, natural language processing, and predictive analytics.

  • Commitment to ethical considerations in AI adoption within HRIS systems, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations and actively contributing to the ethical use of emerging AI technologies at Workday.

You should have:

  • In-depth experience with Workday, including Talent and Performance modules.

  • Familiarity with ticketing systems such as Jira.

  • Project management experience, particularly with large, global projects.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal).

  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and manage multiple projects from start to finish with shifting priority levels.

  • Confidence in leading and growing a team of HRIS professionals.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in HR Technology; at least 3 years in a people manager role.

  • Demonstrated success in developing career development plans for teams.

  • Hands-on experience with Workday configurations including business process definitions, calculated fields, reports, dashboards, and integration design.

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical solutions to diverse audiences.

  • Expertise in framing complex issues and mobilizing stakeholders to deliver solutions.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working with limited supervision.

  • Proven impact on business through roles clarification, process improvement, and technology solutions.

  • Operates with high integrity and professionalism handling confidential employee data.

  • Track record of successfully managing and optimizing Workday HRIS systems in a fast-paced, global environment with constantly changing business needs.

  • Ability to work closely with legal, audit, and compliance teams in a global capacity to maintain global compliance within legal bounds and according to internal audit guidance.
