Actalent Electrical Engineer in Chicago, Illinois

Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob Description

This person will be the lead SME EE for the company, running studies, consulting with Capital Projects, and assisting in troubleshooting electrical issues at their plants. Summary: We are looking for an Electrical Engineer/Designer with 10 years of experience to join the technical engineering team. The Electrical Engineer/Designer will work directly with office personnel, plant personnel, Project Managers, and other disciplines to develop and modify electrical design. They will perform calculations, create/modify drawings, write scope of work, coordinate with outside contractors and vendors, and make visits to plants as needed. Additionally, they will write specifications, develop preliminary designs, MTO's, and man-hour estimates. Responsibilities: - Responsible for the design and/or specification of equipment and processes - Provide technical input for engineering design - Review and approve engineering drawings and plans - Work closely with other engineering disciplines on multi-discipline projects - Work as a key part of a project team to meet project objectives - Work with plant personnel to ensure compatibility with plant equipment and procedures - Develop project scope and mentor less experienced engineers/designers in the execution of electrical design - Ensure the company’s safety values and practices are adhered to in all designs and plant modifications - Lead and provide technical input to 3rd party engineering design firms to maintain company standards of quality, safety, and scope adherence - Utilize department resources, experience, and existing engineering designs in the performance of assignments - Provide troubleshooting and technical assistance to manufacturing plants - Meet discipline’s commitments regarding schedule and budget - Provide discipline's contribution of labor and material quantities for capital project cost estimates for engineering and equipment

Hard Skills

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 10 years’ experience in industrial electrical design inclusive of in-field construction experience

  • Experience with SKM Tools

  • Experience with Studies

  • Electric Design for CAPEX projects

  • Proficient in electrical CAD design (AutoCAD, Draftsight)

  • Ability to use OpenSCAD, ETABS, and Visual

  • Ability to work with 480V and above

  • Ability to work with Low Voltage, Medium Voltage designs- MCC and down i.e. 480V and lower

  • Ability to prepare MCC, VFD, and IO/PLC components equipment specifications

Soft Skills

  • Ability to work in the field with no supervision needed

  • Ability to supervise engineers

  • Ability to travel 20% of the time

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully remote position.

Hours: 8 AM - 5 PM. This candidate will report directly to the Electrical Design Supervisor.
