GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

As a member of Rise’s Solutions Enablement team, the Copy Editor will review content for all growth team initiatives across a variety of clients across industries. From RFIs and RFPs to thought leadership pieces to POVs , you’ll apply your knowledge of English grammar and spelling, AP Stylebook and both agency and client brand standards. Beyond grammar expertise, this role requires an attentive eye for consistency, and an ability to tailor content to the right audience. You might be right for the job if you have a deep understanding of sentence structure, sharp pattern recognition skills, strong organizational abilities and a talent for clear, concise communication.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review copy across a variety of formats for correctness, consistency and adherence to agency and brand standards

  • Identify misspellings, grammar mistakes, formatting errors and more in text and graphics

  • Check revised files against markups to verify requested changes have been made

  • Vet growth team-provided copy for accuracy, clarity and agency guidelines adherence

  • Perform quality assurance tasks, like checking variable elements against a spreadsheet

  • Leverage AI & advanced prompting to scale copy editing techniques across multiple formats and priorities

  • Edit client-facing presentations, RFIs and RFPs for clear copy, consistent formatting, on-brand tone, functional links, etc.

  • Provide edits in clear, consistent and actionable communications for colleagues

  • Work with team to manage workload capacity, align on style decisions and meet deadlines

  • Juggle multiple projects through smart time management and organization

  • Collaborate with internal or external partners to troubleshoot issues and solve problems

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • Strong understanding of English spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax and sentence structure — even when tools like spellcheck aren’t available

  • Excellent pattern recognition and meticulous attention to detail

  • Critical thinking with a creative, resourceful approach to problem-solving

  • Knowledge of common style guides like AP Stylebook and Chicago Manual of Style

  • Empathy, imagination and cultural sensitivity for how audiences will receive content

  • Research skills to verify unfamiliar terms, concepts or references for accuracy/consistency

  • Adeptness at simplifying messaging for greater clarity and accessibility

  • Ability to be cool under pressure and demonstrate sound judgment in new situations

  • Capacity to work well independently with minimal direction or collaboratively with a team 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Drive to improve efficiency and quality of work processes 

  • Proven experience in proofreading and copy editing in a professional environment

  • Understanding of specific industry standards and/or house style guides  

  • Experience working for or with media agencies preferred
