CSL SCS: Clinical Providers

About the Department

UChicago Student Wellness provides coordinated and comprehensive medical care, counseling, psychiatry, and health promotion services for students at the University of Chicago. Our talented and diverse staff work collaboratively to deliver high-quality, inclusive care with the highest standards of professionalism and student confidentiality. Our medical, counseling, psychiatry, and health promotion services are co-located in the University\'s beautiful, state-of-the-art Student Wellness Center, which opened in Autumn 2020 and enables our team of interdisciplinary providers to closely collaborate and provide integrated care and wellness programing. Our mental health services include, but are not limited to, diagnostic assessments; crisis assessment and intervention; individual, couples, and/or group therapy; medication management; academic skills counseling; and referral services. To support the health and wellbeing needs of our diverse student body, we offer support spaces, including support spaces for students of color, international students, and LGBTQ+ students, and wellness programming, including workshops on imposter issues, adjusting to college, managing stress, and diversity in the classroom. The UChicago Student Wellness mental health staff include clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, advanced practice psychiatric nurses, clinical social workers, and administrators dedicated to providing culturally-informed mental health services. In early 2020, UChicago Student Wellness hired its first associate director for diversity, inclusion, and outreach who is developing comprehensive strategies to enhance and support the mental health and wellbeing of underrepresented students on campus. Our staff also regularly engage in diversity and inclusion training to deepen their awareness and cultural competence to better inform the care they provide. Staff and leadership are deeply committed to issues of diversity, equity, an inclusion on campus and in the services we provide. UChicago Student Wellness staff collaborate with offices and groups across campus, such as the University\'s Center for Identity + Inclusion, Office of Spiritual Life, Office of International Affairs, and Center for College Student Success, as well as Recognized Student Organizations, including cultural and ethnic and religious and spiritual groups.
