JPMorgan Chase Central Compensation Vice President in Chicago, Illinois

Global Compensation is part of the Rewards, Regulatory & Policy organization and is responsible for all elements of JPMorgan's approach to compensation, including setting and driving the firm's compensation philosophy and practices, conducting external market research and setting internal pay ranges, supporting our lines of business through executing their annual incentive plans, administration of all business-aligned structured incentive programs, the Long-term Incentive Plan (under which all stock compensation awards are granted), non-qualified deferred compensation/executive benefit programs and the employee stock purchase plan.

As a seasoned, entrepreneurial Compensation Vice President you will work to establish and lead a central function that delivers on a variety of processes and governance in support of our line of business compensation programs. You will have the opportunity to work across broad based and executive compensation. In this role, you will be responsible for driving Global Compensation's adherence to a number of important controls and regulatory requirements, such as business resiliency, Core Control testing, internal and external audits, regulatory disclosures and exams, and owning relevant processes. You will be responsible for liaising with external vendors and regulators and partnering with the Compensation Executive teams to ensure external requirements and timelines are met.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Own Global Compensation's book of work for business resiliency requirements, record retention, data privacy, and shared administrative functions.

  • Serve as Global Compensation's lead for CORE controls requirements. Work with internal control partners as necessary to refine and/or support existing controls framework within Global Compensation.

  • Lead and deliver a strategy around controls and governance across the Compensation function.

  • Play a key role in the event of control issues in the response and remediation efforts.

  • Support leaders across line of business compensation, executive compensation, and central compensation on special projects as needed

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Minimum of 7 years professional work experience, preferably within a Compensation, Controls, Audit, and/or Risk function in a large globally matrixed corporation.

  • Passion for delivering high-quality, thorough, and on time deliverables related to the smooth functioning and governance of the firm's various compensation priorities

  • Ability to rapidly assess new information or requirements and develop and execute a go-forward plan to address in a timely and sustainable way

  • Comfort with identifying and driving time-saving, complexity-reducing process improvements and seeking automation opportunities to previously manual work

  • Ability to set and achieve high ethical standards and galvanize others to arrive at the right answer in difficult and/or ever-changing situations

  • Superior attention to detail and ability to spot logic and/or detail gaps in other's work

  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility to perform with multiple/changing deadlines

  • Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage various projects

  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting research and analysis to ability to research and analyze information

  • Demonstrated influencing and interpersonal skills; experience collaborating across functions and with external regulators and vendors

  • Ability to build strong relationships and partnerships within and outside of core area of focus

  • Strong ability to exercise discretion in handling sensitive, confidential matters

  • Ability to work autonomously to affect change - flexible, adaptable to shifting priorities; manage competing priorities to achieve the most effective result

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
