Work Schedule: 8 Hr (9:00:00 AM - 5:00:00 PM)

Summary:

This position involves designing, initiating, and performing scientific research experiments focused on generating and utilizing humanized mice with chimeric mouse-human brains. The role includes planning and directing experiments, collecting, maintaining, and analyzing research specimens, and preparing final reports and papers based on experimental results. The incumbent will exemplify the mission, vision, and values of RUSH and adhere to its policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.

•Experience in conducting research with animal models, particularly related to brain and immune system interactions.

•Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, flow cytometry, cell culture, and data analysis.

•Strong software skills including GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, Excel, Microsoft Office, Teams, and ImageJ.

•Excellent communication and analytical skills.

•Good technical writing skills.

•Ability to prioritize and manage own work.

•Interest in collaborative multidisciplinary teamwork.

•Highly-motivated, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented.

•Ability to work independently.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

•Experience with innovative strategies in generating humanized mice models.

•Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead research projects.

•Experience in a high-paced research environment.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift 20 pounds, work in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological materials.

Responsibilities:

•Plan, direct, and conduct research experiments and activities related to humanized mice with chimeric mouse-human brains.

•Identify research projects, experiments, and potential research directions; collect, evaluate, interpret, and document research data to achieve research objectives.

•Maintain careful records of all work performed and provide assistance with data collection and preparation of manuscripts, research papers, and grant proposals for presentation and/or publication.

•Maintain a safe laboratory environment and ensure compliance with governmental and institutional policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

•Operate and maintain laboratory and specialized scientific equipment.

•Collaborate with statisticians, research coordinators, and staff from other departments.

•May be responsible for animal handling and working with animal tissues.

•Other duties as assigned.
