Director, Sourcing

We are looking for an Innovative Individual with excellent communication and problem-solving skills to work and lead a diverse group of associates from all generations as a Director, Sourcing at our EMD team in Pittsburgh (Cheswick)!

Reporting directly to EMD’s General Manager, you will be responsible for approximately $100 million in annual supplier spend and will be accountable for managing the entire EMD supply base. This position will empower you to be the business leader of the overall EMD Sourcing Team which is responsible for the strategy, supplier selection, and performance management of EMD’s supply chain and procurement processes. As an important leader, you will work cross-functionally and across multiple geographies with key suppliers to deliver superior quality, delivery, cost, and solutions to meet business needs. To be successful, you will need to be a strategic thinker, strong negotiator, and have a deep understanding of market dynamics to optimize procurement strategies and drive performance efficiencies.

Location: Onsite in Cheswick, PA (Pittsburgh).

Your Challenge:

  • Directs the activities of the entire EMD Sourcing Team consisting of Sourcing Managers, Material Managers, Buyers, Material Estimators, Supplier Liaisons, Data Analysts, Compliance Specialists, and other support personnel to exceed Customer and company objectives

  • Responsible and accountable for every aspect of direct and indirect sourcing of materials, goods, and services that meet quality, delivery, cost, technical, and innovation requirements to achieve annual and long-term goals

  • Ensures EMD’s full and compliant execution of its U.S. Government-approved Purchasing System

  • Directs and monitors the supply bases’ execution of each and every purchase order

  • Develops, implements, maintains, and improves policies and procedures to reduce costs, streamline processes, and implement solutions to maintain EMD’s U.S. Government-approved Purchasing System in full compliance with FAR/DFAR and CAS/TINA requirements

  • Assists in the negotiations of major purchase orders and supply agreements to favorably impact quality, cost, and continuity of supply

  • Uses and improves business and Sourcing metrics to monitor, track, and improve sourcing and supply base performance

  • Recruits, hires, and develops talent to support growth, profitability, and compliance requirements

  • Manages supplier relationships across the globe

  • Develops, maintains, and achieves department budget

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or other related field is required; a Master’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management and ISM (CPSM, C.P.M., etc.) or other nationally-recognized certification in the field of procurement is preferred

  • 15+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Sourcing/Procurement, and/or leading projects/teams is required

  • 10+ years of management experience in the Defense or Commercial Nuclear industry is required, preferably within a low-volume, high mix, high complexity manufacturing environment

  • Intimate familiarity with Contractor Purchasing System Reviews (CPSRs); having been part of a Purchasing organization with a government-approved Purchasing System is required

  • Experience with material cost estimating and forecasting (material cost, staffing, workload, etc.) is required

  • Strong knowledge and experience with Government contracting practices, including hands-on experience with FAR/DFARS, contract negotiations, and related laws and regulations

  • Understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts surrounding planning, scheduling, purchasing, supplier selection, and logistics

  • Knowledge and experience with Lean/Six Sigma problem-solving tools and concepts

  • Proven project management skills, developing action plans from strategic initiatives, and driving results through accountability

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to energize and build consensus with staff, peers and direct reports

  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen

  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills to support organizational development

  • Excellent cross-functional interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills

  • Excellent organization, communication (written and oral), time management, and presentation skills

  • Travel: 10% annually

  • Must be a sole US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance
