Trait Regulatory Insight Database Intern

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Partner with data scientist and biotechnology regulation experts to deploy and optimize tools for information gathering and data visualization;

  • Develop and deploy Python data pipelines to ingest data from sources toa Bayer data warehouse;

  • Discover and understand downstream data consumer needs and let those drive meaningful designs;

  • Participate in design sessions and assist in the integration;

  • Build and maintain core data models;

  • Create and maintain design and code documentation in GitHub, Haystack, SharePoint and/or another repository;

  • Facilitate and participate in code reviews, retrospectives, functional and integration testing and other team activities focused on improving quality of delivery.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required:

  • Candidates should be currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree with a concentration in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or similar focus of program, with an emphasis on Data Science or similar;

  • Strong expertise in Python language and open source packages;

  • Experience with JavaScript/Node.js is a plus;

  • Understanding of data architecture, data modeling, schema design, and data integration;

  • Significant experience with developing and maintaining ETL pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses;

  • Proficiency in integrating systems using APIs, HTTP, REST, SQL, NoSQL, JSON, and JSON Schema;

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially AWS, including S3, Athena, Cloudwatch, and ElasticSearch;

  • Strong commitment to code quality demonstrated through writing automated tests, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and maintaining documentation;

  • Experience with GxP solutions is desirable;

  • Proficiency in version control systems like Git, collaboration platforms like GitHub, and automation tools like Docker and shell scripting;

  • Ability to autonomously research new topics, problem-solve, and establish best practices;

  • Knowledge of biotechnology and crop protection regulations and product development desirable.
