Purpose of the role

Here at Colas Ltd, we have an exciting opportunity for a Property and SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) Manager to join the team in Guilden Sutton, Cheshire. The Property Manager will ensure the smooth running of the 3 operational depots at Guilden Sutton, Winsford & Davenham properties within the Cheshire West & Chester contract. The role will be responsible for all the Property management functions for the 7-year contract which includes managing all property maintenance and the safe delivery of all depot areas, and, supporting the operational activities for the contract.

Main Responsibilities

As a Property and SHE Manager you will be responsible for maintaining the depot and buildings in a serviceable condition and encouraging a safe environment for staff to work in. In this role, you will ensure the legislative compliance of all property including: Environmental, Health and Safety. On a day to day, you will manage and supervisor all planned preventative maintenance for the 3 depots, ensuring Colas 5S standard is deployed and maintained. As part of this role, you will be required to carry out regular drills, tests and checks (fire, legionella, lighting, PAT, etc) to ensure the safe and smooth running of the depot. Ensure that all plant operations in the depot are managed effectively and safely. You will be in charge of organising all 12 monthly and monthly inspections and regular testing of emergency lighting, fire alarm and extinguishers. You will be supporting the Store/Yard person with their activities and carry out yard and depot monitoring/control. Introducing 5S standard (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain) and maintaining this throughout to ensure compliance. To support the General Manager in assuring Health and Safety compliance for the depot & yard. You will be required to carry out ad hoc faults/minor property maintenance and other appropriate duties as required. You will be required to travel between the 3 depots: Guilden Sutton, Winsford and Devenham.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have relevant SHEQ qualifications/experience, this is essential. Having a First Aid qualifications, CPC/HGV licences and any Winter Maintenance qualifications is desirable. Experience in Highway maintenance is desirable but not essential, we are looking for someone who does have knowledge of Property/depot Management and making sure all operations are within legal requirements and safety standards including scheduling of period inspections and planned maintenance. Having a working knowledge of Health and Safety is essential for this role.

As a Property and SHE Manager role, it is important you have strong organisational skills as you will be managing 3 depots. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work unsupervised. A UK driving licence is required for this role.
