As a Special Process Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the excellence of our production processes, particularly in special areas like plating, heat treat, and welding. What YOU Will Do:

  • Support Nadcap Certification for plating, chemical cleaning, heat treat, and welding

  • Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to maintain Nadcap compliance

  • Perform test and measurement throughout production stages to control variables

  • Troubleshoot and solve production process issues

  • Recommend new equipment and materials

  • Manage SAP Work Orders, Routing, and BOM

  • Conduct root cause investigations and develop failure analysis reports

  • Support TPM processes and optimize manufacturing processes on the production floor

  • Drive continuous improvements in yield, quality, cost, schedule, and productivity

  • Ensure EH&S compliance

  • Develop and support tooling for existing and new products

  • Assist with capital equipment research and justification

  • Disposition nonconforming material

  • Oversee annual process audits by the Performance Research Institute (PRI) for Nadcap accreditation

  • Stay current with PRI requirements and respond to audit findings with corrective actions

  • Participate in designing and arranging assembly areas for efficiency

  • Design and arrange machines and sequence of operations, ensuring compliance with mandatory modifications

What YOU Will Learn:

  • Advanced Manufacturing Techniques: Gain hands-on experience with special processes like plating, heat treat, and welding, and learn to achieve and maintain Nadcap accreditation

  • Quality Assurance: Deepen your understanding of quality standards and compliance, working closely with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to uphold Nadcap requirements

  • Process Optimization: Learn to troubleshoot and optimize manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvements in yield, quality, cost, and productivity

  • Root Cause Analysis: Enhance your skills in conducting root cause investigations, developing failure analysis reports, and implementing corrective actions to address audit findings

  • Collaborative Problem Solving: Experience working in a matrixed organization, collaborating with cross-functional teams to recommend new equipment, manage SAP Work Orders, and support TPM processes.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • A Bachelor of Science or Engineering in a relevant technology

  • Experience maintaining a Nadcap system at a production facility dealing with plating, heat treat and/or welding

  • 3+ years of experience working within a matrixed organization.

  • ERP experience such as SAP

  • Related manufacturing experience

  • RCCA tool practice such as Six Sigma and ACE

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
