Position Description

This Terminal Manager position with Kinder Morgan Incorporated holds responsibility and oversight of liquid terminal operations at South Hill Terminal located in Chesapeake, Virginia. The Terminal Manager is a business leader, risk manager, and an employee motivator. Position is responsible for all aspects of the terminal’s business including operations, maintenance, customer relationships, profit and loss, and budgeting. This position will manage operations supervisors, maintenance staff, customer service staff, accounting staff, and engineering support. The position will also work closely with the commercial and finance groups in meeting the objectives of the terminal. The position will coordinate with various agencies, local governing bodies, and third-party service providers to meet business objectives.

Position Requirements

• Manage and continue to develop supervisors to lead, train and terminal employees for safe handling of liquid commodities via Marine, Rail, and Motor Carrier. • Ensure all terminal activities are conducted in a safe, environmentally compliant manner that maximizes customer satisfaction. • Identify and engage levers to meet budget targets and maintain operating margin. • Implement and oversee training programs for new and current employees • Participate in customer meetings and act as liaison between commercial department and customer to grow base business and secure new business. • Responsibility for financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting • Manage overtime and other operational costs. • Participate in negotiations with the collective bargaining unit • Prevent, investigate, and follow up with all incidents. • Foster growth and development of KM safety culture among all employees • Participate in and promote regional and/or corporate initiatives • Assist in the standardization, implementation and maintenance of standard operating procedures for terminal activities. • Direct the activities of maintenance, engineering and other terminal support teams • Continuously identify and implement more efficient ways to conduct business, maximizing revenue and driving down costs. • Respond to terminal activities as needed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. • Perform other duties as directed or required Position Requirements • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing terminal operations handling liquid materials. • Supervise Department Managers and supervise front line employees • Extensive background in vessel activities associated with liquid tank farm operations • Strong organizational and leadership skills for a multifaceted work environment • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication attributes • Detailed oriented and customer focused • Focus on results when surrounded with distractions • Willing to take on other duties as needed without assignment; ability to take initiative, exhibit self-direction and work with co-workers as a team to accomplish goals for a fast paced challenging environment • Work additional hours as needed/required • Professional, high-energy personality with a positive attitude • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers • Familiarization with local and Corporate PC management applications including Word and Excel • Ability to troubleshoot operational problems associated with equipment with some experience with mobile equipment, cranes, or other heavy equipment • Familiarization with applicable regulatory requirements for the handling, storage and transportation of various materials including D.O.T., USCG., F.R.A., F.D.A., DPPC, TPCA, CGMP etc. • Ability to drive initiatives for establishing the KM safety culture initiatives • Ability to manage multimillion dollar budgets • Physical requirements include but may not be limited to walking up and down stairs/ladders, negotiating uneven surfaces, and lifting or carrying loads. • Must be able to wear standard PPE • Must be able to secure and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
